England is full is so often a claim of those not prepared to offer safe haven to those trying to escape war torn parts of the world.
One of the problems is that a lot of those people do not understand the numbers, particularly how insignificant they are. The authorities continue to drive the numbers down and those that have arrived in the last YEAR wouldn’t even outnumber an average attendance at a Pompey game.
On a Saturday afternoon, the country doesn’t appear empty when all the football grounds a full - so another 500 people a week are not going to be of any significance.
Furthermore, the ONS is predicting that during the next 10 years there will be 500,000 more deaths than births; if anything, won’t we need these migrants to do those jobs the flag wavers aren’t prepared to do?

I know this is an emotive topic - please play nicely.

Not sure what football grounds have got to do with anything? Also if you want people to 'play nicely' why don't you set the tone by following your own request first, instead of saying patronising, self important things like 'a lot of those people don't understand the numbers'.

It’s the type of people I have a problem with, particularly ones coming in from countries whose culture is completely the opposite of ours. Having to be told that rape and domestic violence are not ok

The BBC interviewed somebody called Len from Portsmouth at length today for the 1pm news on R4.

He stressed that he welcomed legal migration and was only complaining about the people arriving illegally on boats.

The people on the boats are mostly economic migrants. Do you live in an area with lots of recently arrived economic migrants? I do and it’s not fun. These are not people interested in building community and getting to know their neighbours. They want to make money, often through illegal means. My street is becoming unliveable because of these entitled people. My hard working neighbours (all from diverse backgrounds) are fed up with it. I am sick of it as well, there is no benefit to anyone except those making money from people smuggling and illegal activities.
