Has anyone relocated to Nairobi with their children from the UK? I have lots of questions if I can find anyone that can help!

My husband works there!

We went there for a wedding we are quite well travelled but felt very unsafe in Nairobi . Poverty was appalling. Can’t imagine choosing to live there. My friends family lived there and she went to English boarding schools.

What a judgemental thing to say. @MsTSwift yes, there is a lot of poverty in developing countries. If you were as ‘well travelled’ as you say, you probably wouldn’t find that shocking.

OP, Nairobi can be lovely, lots of expats live in places like Karen where you can get lots of space and have household staff if you like that sort of thing. I didn’t live there with kids but there are FB groups for NBO expats- you could start by posting there. I’m sure you’ll want to ask about security- many people I knew had their own security at home.

Overall though, Nairobi isn’t the best part of Kenya- but being based there you’d have wonderful travel opportunities all around you.
