One of my closest friends has a partner with long term mental health issues. Friend is the main breadwinner and also seems to be holding the family together (2 young DC). She is awesome and it’s a massively difficult situation, and my question is how can I best help her given the issues are basically unresolvable - any tips on what I could do that might help would be gratefully received

Non-judgemental friendship, an ever-ready listening ear and minimal advice - unless it's asked for. My circumstances were different but had similar elements (and there was no 'solution'). There were a tiny number of people who offered the above and it was worth the world. Their undemanding empathy was such a relief.
