Hi and I really hope someone can help. I’ve been with my partner for over a year and we are very happy together. Unfortunately he married an abusive woman who has literally made all our lives hell. She’s turned up at my place of work, called my office and hung up, called our landline and had pictures of me and my partner on her phone. The big issue is their daughter is nearly 11 and had a phone bought for her to keep in touch with us all. They have shared care so no one is the primary. As soon as his daughter is in her care her phone stops working.
The daughter says her mum takes it and looks through all her messages and calls. We changed the password and for a while it worked. However she is a bully and we believe she may have got the password out of her. My concern is 1. How can we stop her doing this and 2. Is there anything in what she is doing classed as stalking or illegal? We are going out of our minds and all we want is 50-50 care and happiness to be left alone.

Sounds awful!

But a 10 year old should not have a phone which her Mother cannot access....not one with internet capabilities anyway.

I suggest you simply buy her a very basic Nokia phone with no internet capabilities and if the phone stops working on a regular basis, call the Mother's landline to speak to DD.

Thank you. That's an idea we could try. We completely understand that the mother should be looking at her phone but she blocks his calls and texts to my partner then unblocks it on her return to us. The reason for a phone at her age is they walk to and from school alone around here. En mass of course but it's a security thing to have a phone. A cheap Nokia may well be a better option as they can't block numbers as easily. Thank you!
