Opened my christmas present from OH in error

A package arrived by post addressed to me which I have just opened. It is my OH's (very generous) christmas present to me, but because of the nature of what it is the seller has used my name as the addressee and I can sort of understand how it has happened. My problem is that it is a complete surprise and I know OH would be gutted if he though I knew what it was ahead of christmas day.

I can't put the genie back in the bottle. What on earth should I do?

Do you have a lovely neighbour? That could pretend to have taken the delivery for you, and tell DH that theyd opened it? Could you take acting lessons?

You have to tell him. Otherwise why would you have a package sitting in your house addressed to you which you haven't opened?

I'd have to tell him. I'm too honest, I couldn't keep the secret or feign the surprise and wonderment needed.

It's one of those 'experience packages' tailored specially for me, Five, which is why it came addressed to me.

As you say, PPs, although it will hurt him I think I will have to tell DH although I'm dreading it. He so much wanted to make my christmas really special after a no-so-good year.

But it is special! A whole week extra special.

You're clearly delighted with it and overwhelmed and emotional - which is just the reaction he wanted. So he sees the reaction a few days early - it doesn't really matter, does it? Just do the whole "I can't believe you were so lovely" thing tonight, because it sounds like you won't be able to hide how you're feeling anyway.

Sounds lovely, just tell him and let him know how happy you are that he got it you!

Lweji has it, OH was cross with himself last evening, which makes him even more of a star in my book. I think my worrying about earlier it was in direct proportion to the really meticulous planning he did and the great expense he went to. Thanks for all your replies .
