I think NICE made the right decision

It sounds very hard but £90,000 for six months is a lot of money.

Easy to say if you have six months.

When you consider the amount that is spent on defence, overseas aid, failed bloody reforms, fat cat bureaucracy, it is morally reprehensible to have made this decision!

But NICE can't take the money from defence or bureaucracy... They are only saying what the finite NHS budget should be spent on. Their role is to ensure that the drugs purchased offer value for money. I agree OP. In itself £90k is a small price to pay but what would the NHS have to cut back on to fund it? Nursing staff? Mental health services? Doctors? MRI scanners?

I think the drug companies are more at fault for the amount they charge than nice is for having to turn this down

Come back and tell us it's too much when it's you or your mum, sister or daughter that needs it. And before you spout off about it being 'six months', that's an average, some women get longer.

The same was said about ones of the drugs my husband is on. As each drug stops working they put him on another drug to extend his life. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer 1 1/2 years ago. Sorry if the health service sees fit to waste the money on him. How fucking selfish are we to want him to live longer? Would you like to tell me what my, previously hardworking, kind, generous, husband is worth? Maybe you could let me know which of your familly member needs essential drugs and I'll judge on wether they're worth it?
