LPA error- any experience?

Has anyone ever changed a detail in an LPA? It’s a stupid error, the birth date of an Attorney. Can we correct it, ifnore it, or is the whole thing a bust? 😢 I’m so frustrated and could kick myself. DD basically has my birth year. All my fault. Only noticed when she went to organise online access. Any suggestions?

My dd attorney put her birthdate in the space that should have been the signing date, and vv. They picked it up and sent it back ( we did a paper copy). They check them very carefully and thoroughly and pick up errors very efficiently. Don’t worry, it will get sorted.

Have you submitted it and it’s been granted? If so, it’ll need doing again.

Yes, submitted and granted. OoPG might just add a note to the copy they hold, apparently. It’s one of the two attorneys.

I was hoping someone else will have made that kind of mistake. @viques was that picked up before it was registered?
Ours has got through. I don’t want to risk my ability to act, in sorting out DD’s. And I don’t want to ask Mum to do it again. She really struggled with the idea.

My sister's middle name was spelt incorrectly by the paralegal doing the forms, despite the misspelling having been picked up by us and corrected before submission to the OPG. We were furious so she contacted them and they rectified it their end, so that online codes would be correct, but they couldnt correct the originals and we'd have had to start again. It never caused an issue.

That sounds optimistic, @francobrit . Thank you!

Yes they picked it up. I imagine that is a job I would hate, checking through complicated forms all day but they must have very sharp eyed checkers with good concentration.!!!!

I changed my name and wrote to them and they changed it on the online version for free but not on the paper copy. I'd imagine you'd be able to correct this with some proof.

Thank you @Musicaltheatremum ! I’m starting to feel reassured that they do actually want this to work, rather than making a complicated process they can catch you out with 🫣
I should have got someone to proof read the bits I did.
