Wearable Tracker for elderly parent.

Following the move to a Care Home 3 weeks ago DF has been going for daily walks. This is great to see. However- he is going further and further as his confidence improves and has started to go off the main lanes onto footpaths and beaches as the CH is in a small coastal village
We don’t want to stop him. But we need to be able to find him as he could fall.
The AirTag worked fine when he was in a town but is not much help here
Any experience of useful trackers he could wear that we can see and the CH can see.

We got DFIL an old iPhone at one point because he wanted to count his steps. Do you think he would take it on a walk with him?

I was thinking of one he can wear on his wrist or round his neck.

iPhone paired with an Apple Watch? That has fall detection plus you’d be able to see where he was. There are probably cheaper solutions though.

There’s a product called Panpan that I am going to get for my Mum. It’s a watch that will detect falls and I think will also give a location (haven’t fully investigated yet). It requires a subscription, so an ongoing payment.

@BrentfordForever i seriously considered this as we have one for the dog but in the end I've ordered a PAJ smartwatch finder as it has an SOS button and I can call him on it. We’ll see if it works. 🤞

Oh I had the PAJ it’s great and I think I was paying only a tenner per month.. it didn’t have a wristband if I remember but they did give a little pouch so perhaps good to sew that on him somehow

your stride wrist watch has a GPS tracker facility. It looks like a big fit bit. My Mum’s happy to wear it. If she falls the care response team asks her if she needs help or she can press a button and ask for help. It’s been great for her independence. The gps tracker is a useful feature. But we also have ‘find my’ option activated on her iPhone. Belt and braces 🙂

My Dad (78) is thinking about an apple watch because of the heart rate monitor and because it tracks lots of things (he likes data!!)
what about an oura ring or a whoop bracelet?

He is mostly interested in stats for heart, stability/fall and perhaps calling someone im case of a fall thanks
