Anyone up?
In a quiet corridor, in a line of beds with 89yo DM with a leg that has gone black referred from GP.
Drove for 2hrs to get here and have taken 96yo dad home.
Just waiting for a doctor.
Shattered.

sorry to hear that - sounds nasty.

shellyleppard · 18/02/2026 22:53

Sending hugs op, hope your mum gets sorted soon x

CIng · 18/02/2026 22:54

Thinking of you, @TeenToTwenties. Hope the wait isn’t too long.

Bababear987 · 18/02/2026 22:57

Is it due to bruising? Has she had a fall or is she on blood thinners?

Diplidocus4 · 18/02/2026 22:57

Thinking of you x

Stay strong and try to look after yourself too. You will be no good to anyone if you’re exhausted too. My mum was in an and e last year with my brother. The nurses told him to go home and rest overnight as not much would happen. Take care x

SilenceInside · 18/02/2026 23:01

Hope you can get some kind of rest, and that your DM is seen soon.

Ticktockwatchclock · 18/02/2026 23:07

That must be really tough. Hoping your mum gets the treatment she needs. Make sure you look after yourself too. Sending a virtual hand hold. 💐

Endofyear · 18/02/2026 23:35

So sorry OP that sounds really tough. You must feel shattered and worried about your mum. Try and get some rest and really hope your mum is seen soon 💐

Ilovelurchers · 18/02/2026 23:36

I remember a few evenings with dad like that. Are you on your own? Are you allowed to stay the night? And if so, can anybody at least come and relieve you in the morning?

Look after yourself - it's stressful and uncomfortable and tiring and it really takes it out of you. Make sure you stay hydrated, eat if you can, go for a little walk if you need to. Don't be afraid to ask for anything you or your mom need - I know everyone is busy in A and E but your needs are still important! (I remember having to ask about 5 times for a pillow for dad - but we did get one on the end!)

I only actually spent one whole night in A and E with him - he was in a little cubicle and I slept on the floor next to his bed. The other nights he was moved to a sort of ward that was still part of A and E, and they sent me home after a certain time. Although I wanted to stay at the time, in retrospect there wasn't much I could have done and it was probably better to go home and get some rest. It's difficult because you will be worried and just want to be there with her, but you need to be realistic - you are only human!

Yes on thinners, and yes they think just bruising. Has had xray and waiting for bloods to come back.
Brightly lit corridor, but quite quiet.

Thanks all.
