My 92 year old DF has recently suffered a great reduction in mobility meaning he is now confined to downstairs and his pastimes have become more limited. He previously used to enjoy going on their old PC to browse the internet and do a bit of online shopping - mainly ebay and Amazon, however the computer is in an upstairs bedroom so he is now unable to access it.

DM is considering buying a laptop that he would be able to use whilst in his armchair, with the laptop on his table in front of him. His only difficulty then would be that he has quite wide fingers and is not terribly dexterous, so I'm not sure that he would get on with a small laptop keyboard.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a laptop with a larger/chunkier keyboard? I have tried googling with little success.

I know people often recommend getting a tablet/ipad for elderly relatives but my mum already has a tablet and he just can't get the hang of it all, so we need to stick with something he is already familiar with.

Thanks.

You could just connect a keyboard to the laptop so he has something he is used to.

Thanks, yeah , that's worth looking into. I'm just concerned that it would be a bit cumbersome and the screen might end up a bit far away from him .
However it is certainly something I can get him to try out , using my laptop and his own keyboard, without any expenditure.
Thankyou.
