My dad is dying from MDS terminal leukemia. My mum is in total denial. My dad isn't. It's just really difficult. It's their wedding anniversary this weekend, Dad had no idea until I'd sorted out flowers. It's hard work. Can anyone relate.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. I have no advice to offer. My dad died last year and I know how hard it is, without the complications you are facing. Thinking of you.💐

@Appendixquestion1234 I’m sorry to hear that, it sounds extremely tough. The cockroach cafe thread is kind of a drop-in place if you just want to talk or offload- it’s a very friendly kind of space.

Sorry to read this.🌻

And yes
Your Mum is afraid.
Part of her needs the illusion of their life continuing into the future to keep doing what she is doing today.

I'll guess its extra hard on you (and your Dad) as you will feel protective and pissed off at the same time.

Try lower your expectations (or have none) around how she will behave or react but at the same time protect yourself emotionally and set reasonable limits on how or what support you can offer her.
