Rant about sister

Just come off the phone to my sister.

She's informed me that my mum's knee is painful. I said well you're not doing her physio exercises and I already told you to put ibuleve on it, elevate it and do hot/cold compresses. I also suggested you take her swimming.

She said well come and do it then. My sister lives with her and I'm in a different part of the country.

It's maddening.

Sounds like she’s tired of doing all the caring and needs a break from it. And if you’re not able to do any care because of whatever reason it’s really a bit rich to criticise someone else for what they are or are not doing. I suspect you know this though.

You know absolutely nothing whatsoever about what's going on, I suspect you know that though.

She sounds fed up to me.

RosesAndHellebores · 11/04/2025 14:03

Ooh, DH's sisters make sweeping statements about their expectations in relation to MIL. They live on a different Continent. One has visited thrice in 35 years and one puts herself out a bit more coming every three to five years.

One day I shall treat myself to a choice response.

How often do you see your mum @Sisterrant compared to your sister?

I'm sure she is.

Your OP and brief addition leave so many questions. It's going to be really hard for anyone to be able to offer advice or suggestions on the basis of what you have written.

I've just come back from living with her for a year while my sister didn't lift a finger and continues not to lift a finger.

It was just a rant.

No do I can only respond to what you’ve posted which doesn’t paint you in a good light. I suspect you know that though or if you don’t will do so soon.

cue a drip feed to make you sound better. Which I won’t bother reading.

KarCat · 11/04/2025 14:08

Maybe you should go and do it all then?

I'll live with that.

Oh just seen your update, you were there for a year.
Why didn’t you put that in your OP?

I have my own life and have only just got back from living with her. I currently arrange all her Drs appointments and medical care because my sister is too busy.

Because I was ranting about a conversation I'd just had with her.

But how long has the sister been there and doing everything? If she's lived with and cared for the dm alone for ages and a sibling moved in? Absolutely right she gets a break!!

This is quite funny but I feel better now, I just needed to get it off my chest.

My sister refuses to do anything to help, lives with my mum rent/bill free and has just told me to take her swimming and look after her knee myself.

My other sister makes her dinner and lunch every day and I sort out her medical appointments.

I was so pissed off.
