I think my mother has beginning of dementia or some anger issues. Maybe bipolar. Not sure.

Anyway.
Is there any herbal or healthy remedy that calms the elderly down?

Please do not try and medicate her with anything herbal or otherwise. Take her to her GP and have her assessed properly and discuss your concerns with them.

Sending hugs and support. My mother was a difficult selfish woman before dementia

Years after diagnosis the manipulation is on a whole new level

I'm afraid there are no safe herbal remedies at that age. Ask for a psych assessment and get some professional advice.

Flyhigher · 17/12/2024 20:52

Am surprised there are no safe herbal remedies

She will not see a gp about it. Hence my asking here.
I've seen kalms. Do they work?

Kalms? For mental illness? Really?

please see a GP

PermanentTemporary · 17/12/2024 21:40

Are you safe? Who does she take the anger out on?

Do you think she is safe?

Bannedontherun · 17/12/2024 21:54

A bit of space cake ? I am told that marijuana calms one down,I do believe it is herbal although you may need to check the credentials of the grower if possible.

what a ridiculous post

Email her Gp and tell them your concerns. State that you are just letting them know so that you can avoid a Hospital Admission further down the line. Also state that she's reluctant to see them about the menory loss that she seems to be experiencing. They will most probably ask her to come in. Most Doctors will disguise it as something like a "medication review".

Is her Dementis diagnosed?

healthybychristmas · 17/12/2024 22:56

She won't have suddenly become bipolar. You can count that one out.

TinyMouseTheatre · 18/12/2024 06:22

Has she had a Care Needs Assessment too OP and are you in touch with your local Carer's Group?

Flyhigher · 18/12/2024 12:44

Thanks for your suggestions.
I think she does have issues not sure what they are exactly.
Just literally wondered if some kind of calming drink might help her. Anyway. Thanks.

Do not try and medicate her yourself. Seek proper help via her GP.

Has she always been difficult in terms of personality?.

1smallhamsterfoot · 18/12/2024 16:16

What kind of calming herbal drink do you think exists? Surely we would all be drinking it 🤣

Flyhigher · 18/12/2024 16:37

Am not trying to medicate her.
She's always been difficult yes.
Anyway. It's fine! Thanks.
