Hearing aids

I don't have much experience with hearing aids so would appreciate some advice. My mum had her hearing aids fitted yesterday. They're replacement ones and don't seem to be making much difference.

I was going to phone audiology Monday but wondered if maybe she needs time to adjust? They are definitely on and batteries are working as they're making a noise as they're turned on and sync up.

Hi
I've been wearing aids for 7 years.
They can take a long time to adjust to.
They often do need to be adjusted by an audiologist so getting in touch wouldn't be wrong.
I had my NHS ones replaced for an updated NHS version once and went back to the old ones as they were better.
Sorry I can't give a clear, simple answer; hearing aids are difficult things.

That's very helpful, thank you. When she put the right one in, she didn't seem to notice any difference and still can't seem to hear. I'm wondering if she's just so used to not hearing that she doesn't listen if you see what I mean. I also wondered about a period of adjustment.

The other issue is these are replacement ones and they refused to retest her hearing. It's a pain they didn't as I'm wondering if her hearing has declined since they were last tested.

Well I'll get in touch with audiology Monday anyway. This is very frustrating.

Could you get a free test at Boots or Specsavers?
