Elderly parents

The 80s thing

I am so lucky that my parents are relatively well (79 and 81). Dad has had a minor stroke (plus another HUIGE health condition which is currently not relevant).
In laws are somewhat older(84/5) and have just collapsed from being very able to being absolutely incapable. They do 50/50 between UK and their home country. Just about to go there for this year and... not sure they will ever come back. I am terrified:
DH will be beyond sadness
I am their executor and it will not be popular

I know I just need to woman up and hope for the best.
Not sure what my chat is about...
May be, what is it like to be you in laws' executor?

What do you mean by being their executor? That's for the will once they pass, isn't it? Do you mean you have power of attorney?

Can't stand my MIL, would happily be her executioner. DH might struggle.

At first glance I thought that said DH might “strangle”! But that’s probably less to do with manky lenses on my reading glasses, and more to do with thoughts about my DM.

OP, like others, I’m not sure what you mean, but it sounds difficult for you and your DH.

Ah that sounds tough. My FIL put me and dh on the trustees for a fund that benefits my SIL as she is vulnerable. Dh died and my BIL lost no time in getting my FIL to boot me off. It was uncomfortable at the time but in fact I look back and am so relieved he did it. Is there an option not to be the executor? Why did they ask you specifically?

Are you thinking they will soon be dead? What’s the issue with being an executor when they die?
