Update on my DF

3 weeks ago I asked for advice about convalesce homes for my DF following a fall at home. He has broken his shoulder/upper arm in 3 places.

I'm pleased to say that despite being given the wrong type of sling which made the break less stable until the fracture clinic sorted it out, he is making good progress. My work gave me almost 3 weeks off to sort things out but after finding a suitable home, going through their assessments plus my care, DF has made great progress so has come back to stay with me, rather than going in there. DH is WFH on days when I am in school, and on my days off, I can look after DF. He is in the cottage next door to me where he happily spent most of 2020 and 3 weeks over Christmas. He needs help getting up & going to bed, plus his meals preparing, but he is doing pretty well, all things considered. In fact, if the drizzle holds off, we're going down to the beach for a short stroll later.

Thanks for the help I received. My cousin has been amazing, my stupid narcissistic sister is now bleating about her plane tickets being wasted in late February. You couldn't make it up.

Good news. Make sure he gets good physio treatment and does the exercises religiously! My mum got full use of her arm back after a broken shoulder in her late 70s and was able to live independently again.

Thank you for updating. It's lovely to hear a positive story! (other than the narcissist sister!)
I second PP's point about physio - so important.
All the best!

I remember your original post OP. So happy to hear your update and I hope your dad recuperates well. I also agree with PP re: physio. V important

All the best to both of you
