What happens if Deputyship is needed and nobody from the family is willing to do it?

I imagine a solicitor is appointed, or the Local Authority get involved and charge for doing it?

Has anyone here refused to do it and left it to the solicitor/LA?

Don’t feel pushed into it.
if no family willing or able then either LA have a special team that do it (social worker makes the internal referrals to them) - generally this is if the persons affairs are straightforward eg pension, or if there are assets they will say a solicitor has to do it

Thanks. I'm annoyed it's come to this, as I tried for 5 years to get my Mum to set up PoA. She wouldn't & now here we are...

I don't particularly want to do it but feel as though I/we (sibling) should.
