Reporting to OPG

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post?
In light of a couple of threads I've read recently has anyone actually taken the step of reporting an LPA to the OPG?
If so, how did it all turn out? Was it worth it? Were you identified in the process?

i did 🤷‍♀️

it’s still in progress so no outcome yet. I discovered the abuse when I went to visit and noticed it wasn’t just he couldn’t find his bank cards, they’d been taken away.

i did the online thing and found that there was a POA. I also notified social services.

anyway turns out even though the POA has not been in place long my report has triggered the bank accounts to be frozen so something is going on.

I suspect this was going on long before the POA as well as the bank cards had been missing for a while so that may end up with the police as OPG can only investigate what has been taken under POA.

it is completely anonymous. Although obviously guesses are made and the attorney is FURIOUS. Big time.

I am glad I did it though.

Thank you for replying, sounds like you did the right thing.
I'm on the brink of reporting but capacity seems to fluctuate so it's hard to make the right call. I just know the things the lpa is doing are things I wouldn't dream of but apparently it's ok because "mum wants to"

They will send someone out to assess capacity.

in our case it’s clear that they couldn’t raise the alarm themselves - can’t access internet or phone banking, can’t physically get to the bank, doesn’t know what their income is or how it’s being spent.

that was enough for the OPG to continue the investigation.

presumably if they’d have known what was going on but were ok with it then that’s their choice.
