Memory clinic

My mum -90 is residing in a care home awaiting an appointment with the memory clinic.
We’ve been notified they are coming to the care home to assess her however I was under the impression she’d need a brain scan too.
The staff have said I can be with her during the appointments.

Can anyone advise me what’s likely to happen please?

There is some information on line about these. Seems like they are for assessment to determine how severe the problem is and the best way to manage it. I don't think a brain scan would be usual in your Mum's case. Hope it all goes OK.

The memory clinic is just the starting point really, they ask questions and will want your mum (and best if you accompany her and can chip in too) to explain how she is doing, what she has noticed difficulties with etc. They may well ask her to perform some tasks, answer some questions, repeat something they told her earlier in the conversation etc. It's to get an idea of the problem and what help might be appropriate etc. I wouldn't expect a brain scan at this stage tbh.
