My mum is in a care home and they’ve asked me to take 2 expensive rings as she keeps losing them or offering them round.

They are now in my possession but it’s causing no end of stress. She’s accusing the staff of stealing them so I took them I. Today to show her they were safe with me.

This obviously didn’t go down well and she thinks I’m wanting to live a ‘Gilded life’ and cash in her rings.

So, my question is this. Is there anywhere I can get copies made in the hope she will accept them and if she did lose then, that would be the end of her demanding them.
I could tell her she had them but lost them.

Many thanks x

Get fake replacements, Etsy maybe

I’ve looked on Etsy but not seen anything that resembles them.
I presume they are antique.

Give her 2 fakes in a locked box she keeps . You keep the key for safe keeping.

What if you took a big picture of the rings, A4 size, wrote on back in size 26 font "Borntobe is keeping my rings safe" laminated it, and she could keep that picture for the staff & herself to reminder her the rings are safe.

No chance that could help?

She’d lose theBox or the picture!

We did this with my mum but told her they had gone to the jewellers for cleaning. She seemed to accept that better than saying I was looking after them.

at my mums care home we were told dont bring in any jewellery when she comes in so we took her ring off as it was falling off anyway. She is quite far along the dementia road so doesnt remember she ever had it on
agree how about getting some cheap ones for her

OP, the reality is that your DM will never ‘lose’ the rings. The rings will always be stolen or sold to fit in with DM’s narrative.
Could you maybe mount them inside a deep picture frame and have them visible in her room but nailed to the wall?

Tell her they are being cleaned. Put a photo of them on her wall with the label that they are being cleaned.
