Dementia clock

A couple of years ago I bought a dementia clock for DM as she was waking up not knowing what day it was. Unfortunately it doesn’t automatically change the time when the clocks change.
Can anyone recommend one that does automatically change the time ?

That’s terrible you can’t adjust the time. Are you sure you can’t? How did you set it up when it was new?
Does it run on batteries/mains? Could you just unplug it to reset and then get it to the right time?

GeneLovesJezebel · 14/04/2022 08:08

No, the time can be changed manually, I need one that changes automatically.

I think the OP means the clock has to be adjusted manually and her mother isn't capable of doing it herself.

She needs a digital dementia clock that adjusts automatically.

It would need to be connected to WiFi to be automatic. Just had a quick search. There are a few.

Oh I see. Sorry. Very sorry about your mum. Hope you find a solution.

Alzheimer’s Society have a few options, but if she has wifi an Alexa with a screen might do the job too.

A radio-controlled clock will change automatically but will need to be plugged into the mains permanently, not battery operated.

Erm pretty sure my battery alarm clock connects to GPS or something and automatically sets the time. It is annoying sometimes if you hear it readjusting itself. If it is too close to a tv there can be interference though.

The clocks only change twice a year.
Can somebody change it manually for them?

Yes, but she wants to be independent, not reminded that she’s getting older, starting to forget things, and having to depend on others.

Is that the case now? Before the availability of wifi, you could get clock radios that adjusted themselves via a radio signal from Rugby - has that now been turned off?

MereDintofPandiculation · 14/04/2022 14:02

…. Seems not. This has radio controlled time

I understand that but I never remember to move the clocks forward or back.
My DH does it or reminds me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t feel reliant on him.

My parents have this one which changes automatically. They love the reminders I have set up on it.

It is a sign of how bad dad's dementia is (or how much he rates my intelligence) that he thinks that I made this clock and told me I could market it!
