Mums state pension stopped

My mum is 77 and still has a bank book which she’s goes into branch to update and withdraw cash to last her a few months at a time.

I don’t agree with it but it’s what she’s used and nothing will change her mind!

Anyway the point is she went in today to discover she has not received her state pension since September.

Has anyone else experienced this and can clue me as to why?

There has been no letter.

I’m going to call them Monday but I’m expecting it to take hours to get through!

As state pension is not means tested , it was awarded to her so had paid the requisite NI and your Mum is clearly still alive then there seems to be no reason why it should stop so suddenly.

A DWP call seems inevitable. Is this an opportunity to get her to change her banking habits? I bank with First Direct. I get a text every week to tell me my balance, one when my balance goes under £50, and when any amount gets paid in.

I would just try to double check in her bank book, if she will let you, just to double check the details before making a call. There may be a possibility that she had already withdrawn the money. This seems more likely than the State Pension stopping for no reason.

Does it still appear as a credit on her statement
