My mum wants to get a mobility scooter. She can only walk a little bit and we are taking her wheelchair when we go out. I think it would need to fit in a car boot. She also needs a new car but I think we need to get one of these first. Anyone got any recommendations? I don’t know where to start.

Not had to get one yet I'm sorry, so no use there but if she can only walk a little, is she having any physio?

I have no recommendations other than please buy a 4 wheel one, not a 3 wheeler. My elderly relative spent most of their time falling off their trike when going up and down dropped curbs.

I use a mobility scooter, im not elderly though! There are a lot that break down into parts to go into the car boot, if you get the right ones you can even be assessed and get a pass to take them on buses!

Mine is a pride Gogo traveller elite and I've had it about 6 years now, it's still in great nick.

Id recommend once shops are open finding a mobility showroom so she can sit on them and try them out.

Luggie mobility scooters are fab. Really lightweight too.

If you type in your local authority website (county council and select advice and information on mobility support) you may be able to find links. But also there are national mobility providers who do this.

This is just from nhs website, their LA will have more mobility provider links

You could even ring the LA to ask for advice and information to signpost you

There are some good online stores that have a range like this.

It never rains but it pours eh! Look for foldable ones, like this for example.

I would suggest looking for a car with a low/level boot access, so it's easier to get the scooter in and out.
