The recent thread on BuPA care homes was terrifying.

We have had good reports of our local Sunrise home; we need respite care.

Anyone have any views?

Mum spent her last two years in Sunrise, I thought it was good but she had no care needs at all. I’m not sure if they do respite, might vary from home to home but ours didnt. What respite do you need?

Check cqc report but trust your local info and visit unexpectedly. Trust your instincts.

Purple, my mum is nearly 90, and has mild dementia. Usually very fit and active, she has been very ill recently and is very pulled down. I usually help her with the things she can't do for herself, but since our family holiday is approaching, I thought some convalescent care would be the safest bet.
It would also give us some idea of how she would take to a care home eventually..

Sunrise are very good. The ones I've seen have a real homely feel. Check cqc reports if in England. Also check our their Facebook page - they do some lobekt activities with the residents. Best of luck
