Father's Day - feeling sad

It's horrible when your parent has dementia and all around people are celebrating Father's Day. My dad doesn't know what day of the week it is, or where the loo is, or how to do his laces, or do up a zip. He spends every waking moment looking like a rabbit in headlights, or just looking down at his lap. He used to walk miles, and help people, and raise money for charity and be handy round the house. He's only 70. It's so unfair :(

Just having a moan really - I know there are far too many in the same situation. I found myself longing for a swift illness to carry him off quickly the other day. My poor dad.

Hi Hester just wanted to say I understand - my Dad is older, 92, but as yours, doesn't know anything anymore. My Mum takes the brunt of caring for him - she is a fair bit younger, but it is hard Sad
