My mum ( 92 ,lives on own ,very limited eyesight ) has horrendous tophaceous gout on her fingers .

Recently she has had problems with the tophi getting infected.

I know and have told nurse from surgery that mum is not cleaning her hands thoroughly enough after going to toilet .

Anyway I visit yesterday ,very worried by look of one finger . ( horrified more like ).
Get her up to surgery ,GP lances ,nurse dresses .
I agree to re dress today ,nurse to visit tomorrow .

When I redressed today I noticed and cleaned away the faeces all around the cuticle . This wasn't fresh ,the dressing was on top of it .

But shouldn't they have seen that yesterday ..?

Could it be that they were confident that the antibiotics they prescribed would mean that it didn't really matter about the s**t ?

that is disgraceful.

Your poor mum.

Complain to the surgery.

I don't know ....thinking about this ,I wasn't really watching when they lanced it ( very squeamish I am ) so maybe it bled and that obscured the offending material .
All too much for me tonight .
Am off to bed .

oh sodthat I just don't know anymore .
They're so busy .
The nurse is always working until 9 at night ,visiting my mum after 6 pm .
The surgery has recently lost funding and dispensed with a GP and nurse .
