paying for care?

I have no idea at all how this all works, so bare with me please. 90 yr old gm lives in a over 60s block, self contained flat with pull cords etc. She is beginning to need a bit of extra help with things so has a cleaner, someone to take her shopping, meals delivered etc. She is starting to look forward to a time she needs more help and we have no idea how it works. Would she get help to pay for it? Need to sell her home?
Can anyone give me some advice?

I think the details vary from area to area so you would need to get Social Services in to do an assessment. If she is in a position to be self funding you could look round homes yourself and just choose one.

Thanks, I will look into social services, she is adamant that she will never leave her home tho.
