Does your child?s primary school know about the SunSmart 2010 competition? Do they need help in providing shade in their playground or could they use support in educating pupils about how to be safe in the sun?
Sunburn in childhood increases the risk of skin cancer, so it?s vital that children learn how to enjoy the sun safely. Cancer Research UK is inviting primary schools to enter its annual competition with the chance to win a shade canopy worth over £3000.
The SunSmart competition helps pupils to creatively learn how to be SunSmart in a fun and engaging way.
Visit www.sunsmart.org.uk/competition for further information on how schools can get involved. The deadline for entries is 18th June 2010.
To make it fun and easy for teachers to engage their pupils with the competition and learn about sun safety, the charity has developed free classroom resources including a downloadable animation for interactive whiteboards, lesson plans, stickers and class worksheets.
