Needs to be fairly polite as she is family.

Thanks.

"Well done him. Nice weather, isn't it?"

I suspect I'm going to have this for years - SIL is desperate for pfb to go to a nice private school as such terrible things happen at state schools - even in her lovely neck of the woods, apparently. Obviously state is OK for me beacuse I'm a right pleb. She forgot I actually went to said school and didn't appreciate my anecdotes about stabbings and cocaine.

Said pfb is only 18 months!

at DrNortherner.

I will join you in the old hag group. Pretty sad old lefty really but you probably wouldn't approve of my middle class weaknesses....

How sad that you can't be happy for your friend.

btw, my DD has just received the news that she has been awarded an academic scholarship, and we are very pleased for her.

fembear · 01/02/2010 23:01

Well done, miniBlueberry.

Smile sweetly, and say 'How lovely. Fortunately the littlenortherners are bright enough to achieve just as well in the state system. It's nice to know we won't have a hefty fee bill dropping on the doormat each term!'

DrNorthener I totally sympathise with you. A fellow mum at my ds1's school is exactly the same. Obssessed about her child's performance in the entrance and never considers for a second who she is talking to, or their personal circumstances.

My DS did not get through but all his friends did. In fact, maybe he is the DS she is refer to?!!! Is she based in South London?

say 'we can't afford private school, but we are planning yearly holidays in mustique because we are not burdened down with fees'

pagwatch · 02/02/2010 14:50

ummm. That might backfire if they can afford to have expensive holidays every year too...
wouldn't it?

true!
