Those with kids in Reception class - what is their adult-child ratio???

Just wondering as was at DS1's parents evening the other night and we were told that with the reception teachers, and classroom assistants the adult-child ratio would always be 1-12.

Sounds like a reasonable ratio to me - and I know it's a fabulous school so not worried about it in the slightest - just being nosey really

Not sure but as there are about 26 kids in my dd's class and one teacher and one assistant it must be 1-13 but there could be 30 in the class and there would be no more teachers so that would be 1-15 (hey I can do sums!!). 1-12 sounds good to me!

Ours is 1-10 max in the classroom. Less in the playground, more on school trips.

I'm not sure that there is a restriction in our school, the most our reception is 1 teacher and 1 LSA.

There are about 32 kids in my dd's class and they normally have 1 teacher and 2/3 teaching assistants depending on what day.

Also one child has downs so she has a special care assistant.

Guess that makes it 1 to 11 at the worst.

My ds1 had 1 teacher and 1 assistant for 24 children = 1:12 That said, if the numbers had gone up to full numbers(27) there would have been no more assistants.

When DS2 was in reception the class size was 40 () but they had 2 classrooms, 1 FT teacher, 2 PT teachers and 2 PT nursery nurses, so there were always at least 3:40 which is slightly over 1:12 but close.

Also there tended to be sundry other voluntary bods about at various times - parent helpers or work experience/PGCE students - so often there were more than 3 adults and the ratio was better.

Erm not entirly sure but I think there are 27 kids in Dd's class and they have one teacher and a teaching assistant.

22 kids in class, 1 teacher, 2 teaching assistants and frequently 1 student teacher and 1 teaching assistant student. our reception teacher does a fab job of recruiting! (helps that we have a teacher training college nearby)

starlover · 08/07/2005 12:32

when i was in reception there were 30 in my class and one teacher! shocking! lol

QZebra · 08/07/2005 16:16

1:13 in DS1's school.

Kelly1978 · 08/07/2005 16:20

1 - 15, 1 teacher and one ta to 30 children. Its a big school, has 4 reception classes, all full.

WigWamBam · 08/07/2005 16:40

My dd starts in September, and the ratio in her class is 1:14 - 28 children, 1 teacher and 1 teaching assistant. There are three reception classes, and the other two have 30 children so 1:15.

DS only has 2 weeks left at reception .

He has 30 children in his class and has a teacher, classroom assistant and up to 3 student teachers.

starrynight · 08/07/2005 17:05

My childrens reception classes are between 20 & 24 children to one teacher, one assistant.

emeraldefmach · 08/07/2005 18:01
