Reports....what do parents want and need to see

I have just spent an age writing school reports, and will spend most of tomorrow proof reading and ammending them!

I have to use the schools report structure.

This is an honest request, what do parents want in a report?

We have to be positive in all the reports, so I cannot describe a child as being 'disruptive' (not talking SN here these kids are NT), even if they are wrecking their chances of an education.

If you child was having problems how honest would you want a school to be? (and we are talking honest and helpful not honest and snide IYSWIM)

I found my dd's report quite clinical- mostly very 'pc' (eg, stuff like... 'unicorns dd, has an awareness of xxx... evidence is yyyy')

There was room for a short general comment at the end... tbqh I would have liked more.. and to feel that the teacher actually knew my dd, rather than could just assess her IYSWIM.

Found it too cold, and it didn't really tell me much about her progress, as compared to last yr... which I think is important.

school reports make me laugh. teachers find the most creative ways of saying nicely that dd talks too much & ds is crap at everything.

i look for behavioural stuff becuase i have got to a stage my sons have both been at for some time. that is resignation.

i wish i could cling on to a hope that they were genuinley good at anything. must be so depressing going to school each day to know your shit at everything.

that was a moan. and not helpful one bit!!!
