Anyone out there living in Suffolk who knows what is going on with the phasing out of Middle Schools?

I think the title says it all. DS isn't due to start school until 2011 and according to the schedule he'd be the first year to stay at Primary until 10/11 and then move straight to Secondary. No one seems to have any idea what's going on though. How are they supposed to accomodate the additional children and primary and secondary level?

think it's on hold for now.

when and if it does happen the middle schools will turn into upper primary/lower secondary schools til the other schools have enough capacity.

Sounds as though the change for middle schools will be in name only then! I suppose with the economy as it is, they might well be strapped for cash. It's all a bit unsettling though.

I live and work in the Western area (BSE) and our SOR has been postponed until 2017, this is the second postponement now so who knows when (or if) it will happen!

Whereabouts are you in Suffolk? Earliest changes in Western Area look as though they won't be before 2014 with BSE being last at 2017 as OneTwoBuckleMyShoe says.

We're in BSE, but shortly moving about 3 miles up the road to mid-Suffolk. So for BSE, does that mean (in theory) no middle schools by 2017?

What a shambles!

Yes I think that's the latest we've heard. The finance issue is a big thing at the moment so it could be pushed back even further. Consultation in some areas will happen this autumn but I don't think that consultation will start in BSE before 2013. I think the SOR will happen but when is anyone's guess!

What it means is the first batch of Year 5 staying in primary will be in 2017 but I doubt it will even happen that early, it was supposed to all be done by next year initially so they are way behind on time and massively over budget
