Any year 6 teachers out there? Are your SATS results as you expected? Better? Worse?

We've only got Maths & Science.

We've (I'm a governor not a teacher) got all of ours. They were a bit of a shock - I'm grasping at straws!

Put it this way - I'm buying a lot of consolatory chocolate to distribute to the head and the KS2 staff today.

Oh dear. Hope you've got some for the children! Aren't they being marked by another body this time? Perhaps they're a little over-stringent.

Does anyone know if in the KS3 reading/comprehension test if they lose marks for spelling the name of the charachter wrong.
Apparently DD spelt it wrong all the way through her test

OOps that should be KS2 not KS3

Shouldn't be a problem bruffin, there are normally specific marks for specific questions, designed to make sure the children understood what they were reading & knew how to extract information from the text.

I heard there were indignant letters to the TES re the English creative writing paper - the main complaint being that it wasn't creative.

We haven't heard at our school yet to my knowledge.

Children? Children? What are children? Don't you mean organic value added individual learning units?

She is very "able" but her brain works too fast for her own good and she tends to be let down by silly mistakes

ANyone know anything else about the English? Writing I mean? Ours are back today, but staff not been told. That sounds BAD to me!!

Looking at TES there is a lot of discontent with writing results.
