hello, had a look at the friends thread. dont know about that course, but i use to run a unit for children with emotional literacy probs within a mainstream snr school. there were two emotional literacy support assts whose job it was to help pupils grow in emotional strength, eg anxiety, fear, some phobias to help them integrate fully into mainstream over as long a period as it took. for some this could be years and even stepping into a school room was a challenge for some, others how those around them perceived them, some had ocd. all were given individually dewveloped sessions to talk through issues, with pupils being supported in class if that step to return could be taken or othrer coping strategies. it is quite a new area of development in schools and was a big step fot the school to take. however, pupils did benefit from ot enormously.
