Question for biologists, manufacture of chlorophyll

I was asked this by one of my y10 biology students today. Where is cholorphyll made? Is it made in the rough ER and transported to the chloroplast? Or is it made withing the chloroplast itself? I know that there is dNA withing the chloroplast so thought that it might be the latter.

Any Ideas?

Out of interest these kids are so smart, they worry me on times . Got a 98% A to B pass rate from them for their module todays. Just so* proud of them!

Went on Ask Jeeves and looked at www.newton.dep.anl.gov

States that it is produced within the chloroplast.
