my ds starts 12th september got uniform just need pumps and shoes.ds will be 5 in december so i think he is ready to go,it,s me ,i feel sad,he is my only one,but also part of me is happy,at last some me time.

SaintGeorge · 21/08/2005 12:19

Hi folks, can I join in?

DS2 starts school Sep 6th. Full time straight away. Decision over lunches made for me - can't stay packed lunch until after Christmas, school dinners after next Easter (something to do with his age and funding - all dinners here are free).

Got all his uniform except PE kit, but they usually just take any old shorts and T-shirt.

Part of me really wants September to get here, the boys are driving me wild! Another massive part of me is terrified - what will I do without my baby at home?

spacecadet · 21/08/2005 12:52

ds2 starts school in september
ds1 starts secondary school in september
dd1 starts year 10 to officially becomes key stage 4 arrgghh!

Maddison · 24/08/2005 12:30

Where can i get labels for DS1's school clothes? Normally i wouldn't bother but we have to get the uniform from the school and don't want the expense of having to replace things if another kid picks up his stuff. I've looked around but all I can find are the pens, and I'd rather have labels

Gobbledigook · 24/08/2005 12:31

SC - I've just realised that I'll have one doing A levels and one doing GCSEs in the same year. In fact with 3 all so close together it will be a stressful number of years!!

Maddison · 24/08/2005 12:32

Oh and re: the dinners - we are letting ds have school dinners, he is a really fussy eater and I'm hoping that being around his friends will encourage him to eat a wider range of foods that he wouldn't normally have

PeachyClair · 24/08/2005 12:41

DS2 starts next week, full time from start but they have to go home for lunch first two days, then school dinners. Ds1 started last year. DS3 starts in 2 years, starts with a new childminder on the 20th, nursery oplace at the school for next year I hope.

I start Uni on the 19th.

Hmmm. Chaos.

Bought uniform yesterday, went cheap bulk for most things (shoes on ebay , but the school book bag, sweater and sports t-shirt came to almost £30!! For one of each!

Bozza · 24/08/2005 13:11

Sounds expensive peachyclair. DS's book bag was £3 and the sweatshirts £7 each ( I got two). For PE its just plain white t-shirts so they were £1.50 for 2 from Asda. Still need to buy some navy shorts.

PeachyClair · 24/08/2005 13:26

Sweater was about a tenner, book bag £8!!!! Ther est was for a t in a particular shade of yellow, with the school name on.

Got the navy shorts in BHS.

And the school shirts were five for £9.99 on the Index website. .

This school also wanted the money for ds's pant tickets (£15 for two for a showing mid december) in MAY!! DS2 hasn't even started yet!

Absoloutly petrified. DD is 5 in January, she is my only child. I dont want to let her go.
I start uni on 19th.
Dp has just moved in after 4 years of us commuting between his work (in the forces) In Colchester and Liverpool (where we are)
Total chaos but i feel like im just floating - i am dreading her starting school so much, we went shopping for her uniform the other day, we were in M & S and dd and dp were messing about tormenting each other and i was very stressed kind of " Will you 2 stop it, we are buying our dd uniform - ohh mmmyyyy gooodd - (calm voice) - this is a special day". They looked at my like i was barmy. I really think shw eill struggle in school and feel so sorry for her.

Mallarky · 24/08/2005 14:49

Were going in September too! DD is just four. We have two weeks of mornings then two weeks of mornings with school lunch then full time. She's counting by route and can pick letters of her name out, she is very socialble and loves being with her friendsthankfully!
But I'm not ready to cut my apron strings yet!
Maddison, I got my labels from Clarks (the shoe shop) I went in ordered and they were with me in a week! I think all mums get a bit sad!

Azure · 24/08/2005 17:33

DS1 starts full-time September 7th and is 4 on Saturday. Decent cooked school lunches are provided, thank goodness. I got his shoes and trainers last week and so now we have everything - I just need to put labels in it all. I'm pretending no-one's mentioned washing clothes beforehand - it certainly isn't going to happen here. I had DS2 6 days ago so am guilty to say I am looking forward to when school starts. The school has organised a picnic on September 5th, which is a nice idea (weather permitting).

Ladymuck · 24/08/2005 21:17

I've phoned up for some last minute bits and peices of uniform - asked for sock shoe size 9-12, and have received socks for age 9-12... It will probably take the best part of 2 weeks for another pair to be sent out, and I've got the faff of sending the others back.Grrr.

mumbee · 24/08/2005 23:29

I am terrrified Ds will be joining Dd at school, new school building, Ds was at another Nursery where parents were encourage to be active this school is a little more reluctant so it is a big step as Ds is a lot less confident than Dd at the same stage he needs lots of reassurance but it he does know the teachers due to Dd having had the same teacher for reception. They do not go back until the 12 sept and I start back to college on the 13th so little time to be too worried.

SherlockLGJ · 24/08/2005 23:32

Nixz

If it is any consolation DS is an only child and will only be 4 and 3 months when he starts.

Part time until January.

clary · 25/08/2005 00:19

nixz, I'm sure yr dd will be fine, one of the older ones in her year I'd have thought.
My little dd starts on sept 6 as well...just realised I haven't got white socks yet (none in M & S when I did the big shop) also not happ ywith her skirt - righ tlength but too big round waist, a common problem I believe.
Anyone seen a dark grey skirt with a slim fitting waist???

marialuisa · 25/08/2005 09:46

clary-you are in Derby too aren't you? Have you tried Morleys or the school shop on Sadler Gate. Don't know why I'm suggesting Morleys-they've made a mint out of me in the past few months...DD starts in September but has been f/t at the school nursery so it's a bit of a non-event for us!

Nixz · 25/08/2005 10:40

Thanks - she will probably be fine and it will be me blubbering at the gates like a raving looney!
She only has 2 part time days and the 3rd day its - WHAM a proper schoolie from then!
Scarey!

LIZS · 25/08/2005 10:44

Azure , your ds1 shares dd's bday - she's also 4 on saturday and starts full time on 8th. We also have a picnic for Reception on 5th ! How spooky is that !!

LIZS · 25/08/2005 10:45

Clary, I got white socks in 6 - 8 1/2 in Tesco.
