I did half a performance B.Mus at music college in London. I left as I realised that spending 5hrs + a day in a practice room just wasn't me. I hadn't ever practised even half that much a day so it came as a bit of a shock. I then did a teaching degree -BA ed (hons) with the BA bit being a year of solid music and learning to teach music. I became a primary teacher I taught Yr 5, yr4, yr3/4 and year 3. After the birth of my ds 1 I taught music throughout the school which has been my best job yet. I also taught all ages at at a saturday music school and have taught 'cello, piano, theory of music + recorder.

I am currently not working but are studying to convert my degree into a psychology degree in order to re train as an Ed Psych.

I would say if your daughter has the passion for music I would encourage her to go as far as she can.

anyone in London area working in music might be able to offer a day or two of work experience? Also anyone know anything about handheld recordes. Both have already preformed at some serious venues. Only 16 but can play. any ideas. any ideas how to get them thinking outside box too and being creative with their playing. possibly could be useful to inspire other youngsters in area. one has dip already. other can sing a bit and play trombone. an ideas. anyone could offer busking????? interesting to see what has been posted here and sounds very sound advice.
