Will Self outing himself

Maybe he's just getting in first - it's the kind of thing that would get 'outed' on a slow news day.

When push comes to shove, few of us have the strength of will to impose the consequences of our political convictions on our children when we think we could do the opposite which would be better for the child (apart from Alastair Campbell and I do respect him for it and his arguments).

Someone quoted this in the comments box after Will's article!
""Comrades!" he cried. "You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and organization of this farm depend on us. Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples."

Isn't Will Self a writer? How come it took to the age of ten for him to realise that the boy "couldn't write" and perhaps help him a bit?

Quite a lot of the "leftie" media type moved to Lambeth, Hackney and Islington a few years back as they were "upandcomingareas" - Will Self isn't the first "leftie" to have doubts about the education and write articles

We are lucky where we live and have a fair number of good to very good secondary schools so I can't criticise - Lambeth doesn't have enough places so I suppose those who have the choice (money, religion, 11+ pass) will go elsewhere.
