Have been told one our our closest schools has upped its game considerably this year which is great news- but I can't find a table that tells me this online! Several show %age of As and A*s but I'm looking at a good steady local comp, not necessarily how well the school has kept the clever kids- well, clever!

2008 official GCSE results are not published until jan 2009.Ring the school up and ask them.

Many schools will have this info in their prospectus (especially if they did well in 2008!) Round here most schools have their prospectus and exam results available electronically on their website.

If that fails, ask them direct.

But do be aware that good results this year may be a blip rather than a trend.

The figures aren't published until after all the appeals go through.

I would be happy to rate any school on its % of top grades rather than on how many kids scrape a C.
