Finally managed it, and it went extremely well, so thought I should give you a little update, as many of you have helped me so much in our process.

We met today with the Head, ds1's teacher, and the G&T co-ordinator. They very much agreed with the findings of the report: and we were relieved that they wanted to discuss both the social-emotional-behavioural stuff and the high ability - providing sufficient challenge for him stuff; rather than just focus on one to the detriment of the other.

I don't know what to say really, apart from the fact that we are so lucky to have such a fab, pro-active school. They have all sorts of plans and proposals to support his learning in lots of different ways over the next few years, as well as hopefully improving his social skills.

We are going to meet with them again in June

Fantastic news Roisin, sounds like you've got your boys in a gem of a school!

Congratulations roisin -- you're very very lucky, but I guess you know that.

Wish they could all be like that.

How great to hear of such a constructive meeting and outcome Roisin, that's lovely news

roisin · 08/02/2005 18:08

Thanks all. We do know how lucky we are frogs. I was actually thinking of you when I was typing my post about how fortunate we are in our choice of school.

One thing that amazes me is they don't make a big song and dance about their G&T provision, but it really is superb, and a real passion for a couple of members of staff in particular. But they are also just as brilliant on the SEN side for children (such as ds1) who are struggling in one area or another.

So glad you feel your son faces a happy future at his school. His teachers sound very committed and fond of him. I'd love to hear more details about their suggestions sometime, or how things are working out in practice.

Missed this thread earlier, btw, as haven't had much internet time for a few days. Roll on next week when I'm off for the school holidays!
