DC1 just started year 12.. what do A level chemistry and biology tutors cost?

Not sure about A level but we pay £40 an hour for GCSE in West Yorkshire if that helps at all.

Depends where you live in the country. In London expect £80 an hour

@MyKindHiker probably online due to location

It really depends. I know quite a few fellow Oxbridge tutors who would charge around £60 per session.

We were Southwest. £40/h.

£72 p/h in Worcestershire. There are cheaper options though.

You'd probably find a Scienc A level tutor for between £50-60 per hour and more if you want in person as opposed to online video meetings.

I pay £60 per hour in the south

Realistic band for a good online A-level science tutor is about £40–60/hr — the thread's posters are about right. What separates the good ones at Chem/Bio: they teach your exact exam board (CIE vs AQA wording differences genuinely cost marks), they mark exam-style answers against the mark scheme instead of just chatting through content, and they give feedback between sessions — that's where the improvement actually compounds.

I tutor A-level Biology and Chemistry online with 12+ years' experience (BrightPath International Tutors) — happy to answer what to look for even if you go with someone else.

We've found an excellent online Chemistry A level tutor in the west mids for £45 an hour. Thankyou to everyone who shared.
