Has anyone made the decision to move their DS or DD from a grammar school to a state school? If yes, why? and how has this decision played out? I am considering this due to a relocation to a cheaper borough as i work remotely. I can tough it out as I have been financially but just thinking it might be overall beneficial to move

The OP's DS is at a state school - a state grammar school. As opposed to a state comprehensive school, which will be the only local option in the area to which they are thinking of relocating.

If the grammar school is anything like the one around here, it’s free, but selective. High marks in 11+ is the only way to get in. Which means the students are academically focused. Very different from a comprehensive school. I wouldn’t move my child from a state grammar to a comprehensive.

Yes for sure a grammar school is selective, I think that's clear. But what @MarchingFrogs means is that you used the terms grammar school and state school as if they were mutually exclusive- but the correct terms would be (state) grammar and (state) comprehensive.

It's best to be clear as the op's posts are not fully clear at first.
