Anyone starting on the school visits for secondary school? Want to share pros, cons, concerns, useful questions? Sorry, it’s not the most exciting topic in the world!
I’ve only been to one so far.
Pros - good results, a couple of teachers seemed really passionate about their subject,
head has been there a long time, pupil taking me round spoke well of the teachers and standard of teaching and said there’s been a couple of fights but no major violence in their time there, everyone gets a locker and phones kept in them, good enrichment programme, no NEETS when leave, said food was good, free lunches y7, incorporate some of gcse syllabus in y9 for some subjects
Cons - very big 7 form entry, very strict, silent corridors, same day detentions, pupil said they are very punishment and detention heavy especially in first 2-3 years, pupil rated teaching a 9 which is great but overall school experience 6.5-7 as on your case with punishments alot it can feel like breathing down your neck the whole time
