Tragic death of girl at boarding school

I've just read the tragic news about a girl who died at Roedean boarding school. It seems that it was suicide. I can't imagine the pain that her parents must be going through.

Does anyone know what life is like at Roedean? It was a school that we were considering for our DD, although she would not be boarding. Thank you

Rather than highlight a young person's death, why not just ask for pros and cons of said school.
Perhaps you could get MNHQ to alter /edit your title.

What extremely poor taste to start a thread about this topic. Such a tragedy coming from the mental health issues of one specific girl cannot possibly reflect on a specific school. If one started to see a pattern of behaviour that was statistically worse at one particular boarding school than others then that would be worth looking in to. As it is, you have clearly chosen a different school for your own child so don't need to find out more about Rodean or indulge in sucking the emotional thrill form the tragedy. The school your daughter is at will guaranteed have its fair share of mentally unstable young people and the occasional case of anorexia or self-harm because all schools do. Put your energies into making sure your child and her friends are ok.

The only thing I know about this school and it’s not useful to you but I’m going to say it anyway because it’s such a poor taste thread.

During the Second World War the girls from this school were evacuated to Keswick in the Lake District. They were not allowed to mix with the Keswick school pupils.

A very poor taste thread.
Sadly suicide amongst our children has been on the rise. This will likely have nothing to do with the school.
Leave it to the professionals to improve matters. It is not for us to find fault, make assumptions or even discuss until a at least a coronor's report and even then, it would be unlikley to be appropriate to discuss.

The pupil had only been at the school for a couple of weeks.
I don’t think a suicide has been confirmed in this case- but sadly many state and private schools have examples of young people with poor mental health.
My friend’s experience of Roedean is of it being a nurturing supportive school.
