Is this the most ridiculous comment, or one of the many, about education ever?

I made it not just from the middle class point of view but also the working class one. A big problem with the grammar schools were they took children from one class and made them unsuited to either class, fishes out of water at both Oxbridge and on the council estate.

Yes, I should have replied on the thread but this deserves a thread on its own. How utterly ridiculous and patronising. And, yes, I went to a gramar.

I'm getting a deja vu feeling.

Yes it is stupid. Was that comment made by someone who didn't pass their 11plus?

findtheriver · 07/06/2008 21:44

Wasn't it Xenia?!

learningallthetime · 07/06/2008 21:44

God forbid the working classes get ideas above their station!

cornsilk · 07/06/2008 21:46

Was it Xenia LOL!

findtheriver · 07/06/2008 21:49

Sounds like a Xenia special. I often lose the detail in her posts though cos I'm pissing myself

Nighbynight · 07/06/2008 22:05

thats fundamentally incorrect anyway. Oxbridge IS mainly for bright grammar school kids. Real toffs go to swiss finishing schools, or St Andrews.

findtheriver · 07/06/2008 22:44

... or possibly Oxbridge is for the brightest of the bright even if they come from a ...dare I say it... comp?

Nighbynight · 07/06/2008 23:46

but we are talking about grammar schools here?

sykes · 07/06/2008 23:50
