My DD and I were set on her going to Newstead Wood but unfortunately she just missed out on the cut off. She has a really high score for DGGS so should hopefully get an OOC place and we live very close to Townley so should get into Townley by proximity. She is a very creative child and lives Resding and writing so I am worried the STEM focus of DGGS may not ve the best for her. Her friends want to go there though so she is drawn to DGGs because if that. She has also had a lot of after achool activities at Townley and so isnt very excited by the idea of going there. Would live advice on which school is better and if a creative child can thrive at DGGS.

Hi @LostInCatchments unless your DD is Pupil Premium you won’t know the cut off until National offer day for Newstead Wood.

Both DGGS and Townley are good, you can take part or not in a range of activities and there are always non-school clubs or pursuits at home to fill gaps.

What is it about Townley that makes her not excited about the idea of going there?

She says she just doesn’t like the vibes. Dont ask what that means. Ive been trying for days to decode it. She says she cant explain further. She says her heart tells her its not right. She has no experience of the school aside from going there for her performing arts school which has classes there, as well as gymnastics when she was much younger. She even refused to go for the open day.

I have a DD at Townley and it’s a good school, but if yours doesn’t want to go there Dartford is good too. As long as she understands the journey which is the only downside, I’d let her choose.

I’d rather mine had gone to BGS when she was choosing, but she preferred the Townley ‘vibe’ and we talked it around a bit and agreed as her first choice. No regrets.

i can’t answer re creative kids at Dartford GGS.
