I’ve never heard of seag, is that like the 11+? I don’t think there are generic pros and cons of grammar vs comprehensive as every school and every child is so different. I think you need to make your own decisions based on your local schools and your own child and where you think they’ll fit in the best.

SEAG Entrance Assessment Official Resources

Pro's if your child passes the test they will be in classes with other children of similar ability and who's parent's (generally) value education to the extent that they go that extra mile for their child to take the test. Often the children score well in exams (some because they are prepped) but also because they tend to behave well in class and are suited to the educational system. At the end of their years in secondary they tend to have higher scores.
However, it is well documented that what results is other schools do not have that cohort of children who score well in exams at this age and don't have that cohort of children who for the most part behave and are suited to academic education (vs hands on etc.)
