DC Failed GCSE - options for online learning to retake

Looking for advice as I feel out of my depth.

My DS1 has always struggled with school and severe anxiety leading to physical sickness, it worsened during GCSE and he had dark thoughts. He left most exams early and failed everything.

He’s now on a Level 1 course with Maths & Eng Lang GCSE resits, but hates the college (long commute, intimidating, disruptive students) and his anxiety is back.

He does, however, love his catering/hospitality job at a conference centre and is thriving there. He knows he needs GCSEs to move forward, but local colleges won’t take him without at least four grade 3s.

Are there any online GCSE resit options (pref funded as I am not in paid work - carer to terminally ill parent)? He did really well with Zoom learning during lockdown.

Thanks for reading, any advice appreciated.

@TeenToTwenties yes, sorry, I meant the dual award.

@flawlessflipper sigh, I'd forgotten about the speaking element.

@clary Thank you, yes I meant the 2 GCSE's for sciences. He was predicted mostly 4-6s but got almost all Us and a 3 in Science as he left the exams as soon as he was allowed or didn't go in. He was in a really dark place.

@LilaMae99 Thank you, I'll take a look at National Extension College.

Is it worth trying to have a discussion with the college to see if they will flex on their GCSE requirements? If the only reason he hasn't got four grade 3s is that he didn't really sit the exams, due to mental health reasons, might they accept him on the basis of predicted grades/reference from his school?

@lanthanum I did try that, but they absolutely will not flex.

Somewhere like Kings Inter High offer a 3 subject package for £4700. Could that be an option alongside his job?
