Question for parents of GCSE students

Hi, I’m a teacher exploring whether online GCSE revision courses are something parents would actually want for their children. I’m not promoting anything, just trying to understand what matters most to parents.

If you have spare time please can you reply to the below? Thanks in advance!

1 Would you pay for an online revision course instead of (or alongside) a tutor if it were affordable?

2 What would matter most; cost, flexibility, or proven exam results?

3 Would it reassure you if your child could message the course teacher/examiner for extra personalised help?

4 How long would you expect them to use the course? Year 10 and 11, Year 11, a few months, or just before exams?

5 What would worry you most about online learning?

6 As a parent what would you want from an online course to help your child succeed?

  1. no- either one or the other
  2. cost. As we already have one subject tutor and paying for another would be expensive.
  3. yes
  4. Id register for y10 and year 11. But maybe not straight away in year 10 as I’d wait to see how the end of term exams went at Christmas. Unless we already knew she’d need help.
  5. nothing
  6. past papers/going through mark schemes/how to answer. The “teaching part’ would be from school.
just my opinion I’m sure others would have different ideals.

Pretty sure these already exist. I definitely saw adverts for very similar things in the few months before exams.
