I've noticed an increasing number of defensive posts, some with personal digs or conjecture about my personal circumstances and reasoning, that lack any reference to actual data.

Just to be clear: if a comment doesn’t contribute constructively to the discussion or engage with the data, I won’t be responding.

It might be worth taking a step back and considering the wider audience reading this thread, such as prospective parents. Or people like me who are simply curious and like to look at real numbers and not go by polished collateral, hearsay, thoughts or feelings.

The tone and content of your replies might shape how they perceive those with actual links to the area or school.

With that in mind, I’m going to step away from this thread for a couple of weeks and may return around GCSE results day to pick things up again.

In the meantime, I’m also interested in the recent exam results from Royal High School and Brighton College and plan to start similar threads on those. For the data-minded among us, I’d love to hear if any other schools are worth a look.

Enjoy the sun everyone!

Sounds like it was written by AI 😂

There are loads of Chinese/Indian/Middle Eastern educational groups snooping around trying to buy up British elite private school brands to use in their jurisdictions to cash in on those brands. The U.K. Government has made British private schools vulnerable to having to sell out. It will be that. On the look out for a brand to purchase. The schools without endowment backing are most vulnerable to this kind of thing.

Whatever your motivation for posting, OP, you certainly seem to have a very data-driven view of education. Your suggestion that Sevenoaks might be 'doing themselves a disservice' by only offering IB, because it makes their total IB average lower than schools where only the strongest students take IB (which of course it does), implies that you think that % results and marginal league table position should be a school's primary objective, rather than the education itself. Pretty depressing worldview.

I really don’t know why you can’t just be transparent about your motivations OP, people will give much better responses if they understand why you’ve posted.

In terms of your data, does it measure social skills? Confidence? Critical thinking? Extracurricular opportunity? Academic enrichment?

Also, why limit to exam data? Have you looked at university destinations for example?

Your thread is clearly targeted at dissing Sevenoaks and I’d like to understand why?
